Unlimited Light
is the UK’s largest and most
prestigious company offering a wide
array of fibre optic lighting kits.
THE ADVANTAGES
OF FIBRE OPTIC LIGHTING... |
 |
| With
fibre optic lighting kits, one bulb
feeds multiple points of light (for
example, in our Star
kit, one bulb feeds 336 fibre
optic tails!). Our fibre optic lighting
kits therefore offer extremely low
maintenance – the lightsource
for these fibre optic lighting kits
can also be placed in a convenient
place to change the bulb.
Fibre optic lighting
emits no heat and no UV in our fibre
optic lighting kits. The end fittings
are completely cold and have no
electricity running through them,
making them safe to touch and perfect
for wet or humid environments where
conventional lighting would be dangerous.
Our fibre optic
lighting kits are very easy to install
with conventional tools and detailed
instructions are supplied with each
kit. Only one household electrical
socket is typically required to
power a lightsource and the end
fittings only require holes to be
cut in the floor, ceiling or other
material in which they are to to
be installed.
Fibre optic lighting
kits are ultimate in flexibility.
Colourwheels within the lightsource
make continuous colourchanges easy
to achieve and twinklewheels are
perfect for creating a transfixing
candlelight effect.

 |
Lightsource
This is where we turn electricity into
light and feed it into our fibre optic
harness.
The lightsource
also contains the colourwheel or twinkle
effect wheel. |
Common
end
This is where the strands of fibre
(or bundles of tails) that make
up a harness, meet up in order to
harvest the light from the lightsource. |
|
Fibre
optic tail:
A tail is what we call a bundle
of glass fibres within a protective
sheath (as above) or an individual
polymer fibre as used in our Star
kits. |
|
Ferrule
end
The fibre tails are terminated with
a threaded ferrule to take an end
fitting.
NB: polymer
fibres are terminated with bare
ends. |
|
Fitting
This is where the light is emitted from
at the end of its journey. It can be a
sophisticated glass and steel construction
or a simple tiny moulded acrylic lens.
Either way, there is no heat or electricity
present here so its completely safe. |

The
potential for colours to influence
us both mentally and physically
was recognised as early as the days
of ancient Egypt. Throughout the
centuries coloured light has been
used as an alternative medicine
in the treatment of many illnesses.
When decorating
our homes many of us choose our
favourite colours without considering
whether they are appropriate for
the function of each room. On entering
a room our mood can instantly change
and few of us are aware that the décor
is to blame. For example yellow,
which has a stimulating effect on
our minds, is particularly unsuited
to the bedroom as we need to relax
in order to sleep. However it would
be beneficial at the place of work. |
|
Coloured
fibre optic lighting kits are an
excellent way of achieving this
mood altering lighting. For maximum
effect we recommend that the area
where the lighting is to be installed
is finished in a light or neutral
colour.
All of our
fibre optic lighting kits come supplied
with a standard colourwheel but
our custom colourwheels are also
available which allow you to make
up your own colour combinations.
Some suggested
uses of colour are:

Blue:

Green:
